KELLY AHERN — PAINTER
Painting toward the places where memory, myth, and the body meet.
Kelly Ahern is a painter whose layered works move between interior experience and imagined worlds. Through shifting figures, saturated color, and accumulated marks, her paintings hold space for tenderness, transformation, and the strange intimacy of being seen.
PRACTICE
Ahern’s paintings begin with observation but resist fixed narratives. Bodies, landscapes, and fragments of art history surface and dissolve through a process of drawing, scraping, staining, and repainting. Each canvas becomes a site of revision—an image that remains open to its own becoming.
“I paint to stay with the feeling long enough for it to change shape.”
